Good God, ladies and gentlemen!

I couldn't be more proud to bring to you your 2157 New Alliance of Free Stars!

A picture like this is an interesting challenge since you never see the full body of many of the aliens you meet in the game, there's no meaningful clues as to their actual size relative to each other, and you certainly don't see exactly how most of them are able to move around in the absence of legs or any other recognizable body part. There isn't too much reference material out there either (this is about as close as you can get, though, and it was helpful.)

I made this particular image in three pieces: Orz by itself, Chmmr by itself, and the rest of them. I then used Photoshop to magic-wand out the appropriate areas and drop them in on top of each other to construct the final image. And frankly, I couldn't be more pleased with the result.

This is great fun. I may yet draw the Melnorme space traders, the Supox (sentient plants, and they're just adorable), and perhaps a concept for the Keel-Verezy race who are never seen in the game but only hinted at by the Melnorme. Of course, by actually saying in public what I plan to do I've now totally jinxed it.
