Bwaahahaaha!

I'd hate to see a fancy dress ball! They must have to bring extra firefighters.

Feasibility, or the lack thereof

Well, given some insulating flame-retardant fabric (wool-backed Aramid?) with an internal heat-dump system like that used in the undersuit of spacesuits, you could set at least a patch of your clothes on fire relatively safely. Fire is a plasma, so some cleverly placed magnetic coils could even confine the flames to a specific shape. An air-curtain could be used if the flames were close to an exposed body part (e.g. a flaming collar).

Oh boy, that 'overthinking' thing is kicking in again.

Isn't saying fire is a plasma like saying that the Sun is burning? OTOH if you're correct that would be very cool!

Not really, no. The Sun fuses nuclei, and a fire oxidises molecules.
I'll have to retract my previous statement. Upon further research, the temperatures required to create a plasma are far higher than those attained in an ordinary flame, so having an ionised incandescent gas nearby your person would be a very bad idea regardless of protective gear.

But maybe people from the future will be fireproof.

(by "burning" I meant "oxidising molecules")

I have heard fire referred to as a low-temperature plasma before though.

I believe that's correct.
Well, I know you can run an electric current through fire...

It is still a plasma. An ionized gas is essentially the definition of plasma. Take it from a physics grad student.

You'd be amazed at how flame-resistant even common clothes can be.

Disclaimer: KIDS, DON'T TRY THIS AT HOME! Try this only at nightclubs and at work.

When I was young (and very VERY stupid), my friend Al and I figured out how to 1) open up his refillable Zippo lighter, 2) wipe the bottom of the wick across the leg of our jeans, and 3) set the lighter-fluid-tinged patch of denim alight.

The fire would blaze for about ten seconds, then go out without hurting us or even scorching the denim. Note that we were wearing the jeans at the time. (I did mention I was young and stupid, right?)

This is also why I like you collaborating with Jon. I'm really looking forward to seeing your next project!

I am happy to see AB finally on. Now to see some of the more awesome stuff I saw on aMoS, I hope. I've been checking it weekly and at LONG last it is there JOY :D
