1. My username is ______ because ______.
"ksleet". I got into the habit of using that as my username all over the place online after college. Named after Kevin J. Sleet, the sleazy villain from Adam Warren's Dirty Pair: Sim Hell comic, who I dressed up as at a Halloween party once. I should say I dressed up as Sleet, not as the comic book.
2. My name is _____ because ______.
Mark, after... because... er...
Huh. To be honest, I don't know why my name's Mark. I just never thought about it before. I should ask my parents about that. They might know.
My middle name is "Brian" and if anything I find that even more mysterious.
3. My journal is titled ____ because ____.
"Unrequested Fission Surplus." It's just a neat phrase; I have a habit of collecting those, like some sort of overeducated magpie, and then tossing them out when I need a title for something. I didn't recognize it at the time, but it's actually from a Simpsons quote: "Ah, meltdown, another one of those annoying buzzwords. We prefer to call it an 'unrequested fission surplus.'"
4. My friends page is called ____ because ____.
"Cloud Chamber Traces." That's how you read the results of a cyclotron experiment after you've smashed the atoms together. I picked it because it goes well with the journal name.
5. My default userpic is ____ because ____.
Right now it's Miles Edgeworth from Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney. I snipped the image out of this comic that shipped with one of the games in Japan. (Did you know Edgeworth is getting his own game, by the way?)
Before that it was Mister Blank. What a fabulous, great comic book that was. Mister Blank was the protagonist, just an everyday, everyman hero in a sweet hat who one day found himself fending off killer mimes, ancient goddesses and time traveling mad scientists. Ah, good times... good times.
And before that it was of course Max Headroom, supreme icon of the 1980s, my favorite decade!
As for why I chose these icons, it's hard to say other than these guys just look cool and I like them. Nobody could go wrong by being more closely associated with Max Headroom, Mister Blank, or Miles Edgeworth.
6. My LJ name (you know how you can change that sort of sub-name thing?) is:
I think I just used my own name because, um, I feel kind of silly not using my own name for things. I always have. I know that everyone else on the intertron goes by cool nicknames like "Lightning Naruhodo Jackson" and so forth but, well, it just doesn't work for me.
Hey, that was kinda fun!
